Miller Multimatic 215 vs Miller Multimatic 220

While the names Multimatic 215 and Multimatic 220 are very similar these welders have one big differnce between them. They are both able to Stick, TIG, and MIG weld, however, only one of them is capable of AC TIG welding. So, when deciding what you want in your machine is important before you buy.

  • The largest difference is that the Miller Multimatic 220 AC/DC is capable of AC TIG welding. AC TIG welding is needed to TIG weld aluminum. While the Miller Multimatic 215 is only capable of DC TIG welding. DC TIG welding is used for steel and stainless steel.

In conclusion, both of these machines are a great choice with a lot of similarites but a few differences. So you need to ask yourself is TIG welding aluminum import to you? If so the Miller Multimatic 220 AC/DC is a no brainer. However, if TIG welding aluminum is not important to you and the Miller Multimatic 215 is a great choice.
